Nice Fashion Shows photos

One of the best parts of the Texas Renaissance Fair (TRF) is to watch Lord Randolph's chain mail fashion show held at his shop shortly after the Grand Parade - it is quite an experience! Randolph has volunteer models parading around in cool, intricate chain mail outfits - a photographer's delight! The fashion show is definitely for mature audiences since a lot of flesh is exposed. The only problem with the actual show is that it takes place on the second floor of the chain mail shop and fencing chains are an issue - bummer! After the actual fashion show the models come out to the front of the store and pose for photos. What a tough life it is shooting these models! I took this photo in November 2011. Can't wait until next year!

I had gotten my Model Behavior dolls that year, and I loved all of them, except the one I was most excited about, Ayumi. I hadn't even taken her out of the box, but I was so depressed, I really didn't bond with her at all. Then just when I was going to list her for sale (at a loss, even,) Michael from Hawaii posted this girl on Pink Parlor. Not a huge difference, but pretty peachy lips that really bring out the both the yellows and pinks on her face, and a cute haircut with added bangs. He was looking for a trade on a NRFB one, so we did!! I was so happy, and he was happy too. :)

Today I was quite frustrated with the lack of energy my room had. I decided to put these ads on the wall. They are not only ads, but they are images of fashion photography, the kind of photography and art I most appreciate.

Run to the Sun is a swimsuit and women's fashion store in Anchorage, Alaska. As part of the annual Women's Show in April 2009, Run to the Sun had a fashion show. One of the models invited me to attend to shoot the event. It was pretty cool - great afternoon, the only drawback was the lighting in the Sullivan Arena wasn't very good. I met several of the models afterward and hope to shoot with them in the future.

Skirt: Recycled blue plastic newspaper delivery bags, and green Astroturf 'moss" to come.

Jewelry: post consumer recycled plastics, aluminum pull tab, vintage seam binding ribbon, inks and paint

Shoes: recycled plastic plant tags and green astroturf on store bought flip flops

Hat: recycled garden plastic plant tags on "found" natural fiber hat.

While attending the Texas Renaissance Fair near Plantersville, Texas on the first weekend of November 2010 I stumbled upon the Chain Mail Fashion Show. Apparently this is an event that takes place shortly after each day's Grand Parade. The venue is unique - it is on the second story balcony over the Chain Mail shop - there isn't really a lot of room to work - and from a photographer's point of view it is tricky since there are several stands of chains to contend with - but other than that it was a fun show. Some of the models were obviously nervous about appearing in public - they stayed on stage about 4 seconds, but others were very good at it. Overall it was a very fun event to watch, but not for the kiddies!
